How LinkedIn has helped you in your careers or businesses:

The networking and technology/industry information available on LinkedIn has been a key to my success. This online platform allows professionals to reach across the globe for information and new connections. I have learned so much from others’ posts, whether they are sharing an article or other publication, or posting their own perspectives. I have also secured several jobs over the years from LinkedIn job postings. Of all social media platforms, this is the one that has helped me the most in my career.

Tips on how to Thrive in LinkedIn:

I mainly post when something major happens in my professional world, or when sharing amazing news about a colleague or someone I am mentoring. It’s important to figure out what days of the week bring your posts the most attention. For me, oddly, my most successful posts are always on Sundays!

What I use Linkedin for:

I use LinkedIn for several reasons. To network and connect people to each other, which is so very important in my efforts to help others grow and succeed. To share stories of amazing women in aviation and aerospace who can be strong role models for girls and women around the globe. To keep up with new technological and business advancements in my industry. And in my new consulting role as the Lead Diversity Recruiter for REGENT, I am using LinkedIn to share our exciting job openings, to reach my goal of helping REGENT become a company full of diversity that aligns with our community and culture.

Who am I:

I am a person with several strong interests. I have been passionate about aviation since my first ride in a small airplane at the age of 12. I am a licensed pilot (since age 17), aerospace engineer, Air Force veteran, STEM advocate and mentor, business leader and independent consultant.

I am a firm believer in Sally Ride’s quote: “You Can’t Be What You Can’t See”, which is why I spend so much of my volunteer time supporting organizations like Women in Aviation International, providing inspiration, education and mentorship to girls and women around the world.

I have also been a serious amateur photographer since my teenage years….something I don’t promote on LinkedIn as I try to separate personal and professional social media.

What I do:

I am an aviation/aerospace management consultant, providing support to different types of organizations all over the world. I am also a keynote speaker with an inspiring presentation called “Shifting the Balance: Women in Aviation”, which inspires audiences of all types to connect with and follow their dreams.

I hope people follow me on LinkedIn to be inspired! With my unique background in aviation and aerospace, supporting both military and commercial aircraft, working for both large companies and small, and my work with non-profits, I have a wide span of interests and experiences to draw from.

I also have an amazing group of friends and colleagues from all around the world with great stories to tell and important messages to share. And because I am so passionate about inspiring girls and young women to consider STEM and aviation/aerospace careers, I share many opportunities like educational programs, scholarships, etc, that people may not know about otherwise.

Who I follow on Linkedin

I follow different categories of people on LinkedIn for different reasons. I follow friends and former and current colleagues to keep up with and share their successes, such as Nicole Malachowski. Nicole was the first female USAF Thunderbird pilot, and we have known each other for 15 years. She has amazing experiences and insight and I follow her to be inspired, and to share her messages with others.

Another friend I follow is Kimberly Arcand, who works in astrophysics and is a “science communicator”. She shares incredible stories about her work that are so very unique in this world. I also follow leaders in aviation and aerospace like Blake Scholl, founder and CEO of Boom Supersonic, to keep up-to-date on his groundbreaking technology advances and brilliant business acumen.
